Vampires really do love the cold! Due to a heating glitch at Classic Stage Company's downtown venue, the off-Broadway company has canceled the first two performances of Dracula. The heating issue, which delayed technical rehearsals, has caused the company to shift its start date from January 14 to January 16. Opening night will remain February 17.
As previously announced, CSC's new play based on Bram Stoker's novel will feature an adaptation by Kate Hamill and direction by Sarna Lapine. It will be performed in repertory with a new staging of Frankenstein, adapted by Tristan Bernays and directed by Timothy Douglas, set to begin previews on January 30 and open the same night as Dracula.
The cast of Dracula will feature Matthew Amendt in the title role, with Laura Baranik as Druscilla, Michael Crane as Jonathan Harker, Kelley Curran as Mina Harker, Jessica Frances Dukes as Doctor Van Helsing, Lori Laing as Marilla, Jamie Ann Romero as Lucy Westenra, Matthew Saldivar as Seward and adaptor Hamill in the role of Renfield.
Broadway.com customers with tickets to the canceled performances will be contacted with information on refunds or exchanges.
