Ethan Slater Joins Cast of Assassins at Classic Stage

Ethan Slater, the Tony-nominated and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award-winning star of SpongeBob SquarePants, has been cast in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins. Slater will take on the dual roles of Lee Harvey Oswald and The Balladeer in the previously announced production, directed by John Doyle, scheduled to run from April 2 through May 17 at Classic Stage.

In addition to his breakthrough turn in the title role of SpongeBob SquarePants, which he recently reprised on-screen, Slater has been seen off-Broadway in Baghdaddy and on-screen in Fosse/Verdon.

Slater joins a previously announced Assassins cast that includes Steven Pasquale as John Wilkes Booth, Judy Kuhn as Sara Jane Moore, Will Swenson as Charles Guiteau, Brandon Uranowitz as Leon Czolgosz, Wesley Taylor as Giuseppe Zangara, Adam Chanler-Berat as John Hinckley Jr., Tavi Gevinson as Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme and Andy Grotelueschen as Samuel Byck.

Assassins explores the lives of nine men and women who either killed (or tried to kill) one of the Presidents of the United States. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald and beyond, the stories of our country’s most successful and would-be assassins intersect in unexpected ways, creating a powerful, yet unnervingly funny look at some of the most shocking moments in U.S. history.
