A memorial service for legendary Broadway composer Jerry Herman will be held on February 3 at 3:00pm at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, according to Variety. Herman passed away on December 26 of pulmonary complications. He was 88.
Produced by Michael Feinstein, the tribute will include performances from a slew of Broadway stars, including Kristin Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Kelli O'Hara, Harvey Fierstein, Bernadette Peters, Jeremy Jordan and Betty Buckley. Angela Lansbury, who won Tonys for Herman's Mame and Dear World, is preparing a video tribute to the late composer.
Other stars set to take part include actors Klea Blackhurst, Lewis Stadlen, Lorna Luft, Ron Raines, Jason Graae, Marilyn Maye and Debbie Gravitte. Herman's daughter, Jane Dorian, and Mame co-writer Alice Borden, will offer remarks.
Herman's expansive body of work includes Tony wins for writing the scores to Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles and Tony nominations for his scores to Milk and Honey, Mame and The Grand Tour. In 2009, he received a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement.
