Broadway alum Alysha Deslorieux has taken over the role of Zainab in the world premiere musical The Visitor, set to arrive at off-Broadway's Public Theater this spring. Deslorieux replaces the previously announced Joaquina Kalukango, who has exited the production due to a scheduling conflict.
Deslorieux is known for her prior stage turns in Once on This Island, Hamilton, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and Sister Act.
Also new to the Visitor cast are Robert Ariza, Anthony Chan, Delius Doherty, C.K. Edwards, Will Erat, Sean Ewing, Marla Louissaint, Ahmad Maksoud, Dimitri Joseph Moïse, Takafumi Nikaido, Bex Odorisio, Paul Pontrelli, Lance Roberts and Stephanie Torns.
They will appear alongside the previously announced David Hyde Pierce as Walter, Ari'el Stachel as Tarek and Jacqueline Antaramian as Mouna in the musical based on Thomas McCarthy's 2007 film. The Visitor centers on a college professor (Pierce) who travels to New York City to attend a conference and finds a young husband (Stachel) and wife (Deslorieux) living in his apartment.
Featuring an original score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey and a book by Yorkey and Kwame Kwei-Armah, The Visitor will be directed by Daniel Sullivan, choreographed by Lorin Latarro and music-directed by Meg Zervoulis.
Rounding out the creative team will be scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Toni-Leslie James, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer Brian Ronan, video designer Tal Yarden and orchestrator Jamsheid Sharif.
The Visitor will begin previews on March 24 and officially open on April 15. The production will continue for a limited run through May 10.
