Casting is complete for Emily Feldman's new play The Best We Could (a family tragedy), set to arrive at off-Broadway's City Center—Stage II this spring. Daniel Aukin will direct the previously announced production of Manhattan Theatre Club, scheduled to begin previews on May 5 and open on May 19.
Heading the cast will be Tony winner Frank Wood (The Great Society) as Lou and Ari Graynor (Yen) as Emma, with Howard W. Overshown (A Soldier's Play) as Mike, Gabby Beans (Anatomy of a Suicide) as Maps and Constance Shulman (The Rose Tattoo) as Peg.
The play is set during a road trip between a daughter (Graynor) and her father (Wood), which becomes a theatrical journey across more than just state lines.
The production will feature scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting design by Matt Frey and sound design by Kate Marvin.
The Best We Could (a family tragedy) is slated to play a limited engagement through June 7.
