Sundance Film Festival has released the first trailer of the upcoming documentary We Are Freestyle Love Supreme, a 15-year retrospective of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Thomas Kail's hip-hop improv show that recently ran for four months at the Booth Theatre on Broadway. Directed by Andrew Fried, the documentary chronicles Freestyle Love Supreme's improbable journey from a disingenuous game played by Miranda and his collaborators in the basement of the Drama Bookshop to an off-Broadway novelty and eventual Broadway success. Fried began filming when the troupe first toured the show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005, and the trailer, which features Miranda, Kail, Christopher Jackson and Anthony Veneziale, parallels footage of the troupe still confined to a small off-Broadway house with last year's big main-stem hit. Take a first look at the documentary below.
