Dot-Marie Jones, the screen star known for her turn as Coach Beiste on Glee, will join the off-Broadway cast of Rock of Ages next month. Jones will take on the role of bar owner Dennis Dupree for a limited engagement from February 24 through April 19, stepping in for Matt Ban, who will take a leave from the production until April 20.
Jones received three consecutive Emmy nominations for her performance as Coach Shannon Beiste—later Sheldon—on Glee. Jones' screen credits also include The Boondock Saints, Have You Met Miss Jones?, Venice the Series and Married...with Children.
Jones will join a current Rock of Ages cast that includes CJ Eldred as Drew, Kirsten Scott as Sherrie, Mitchell Jarvis as Lonny, PJ Griffith as Stacee Jaxx/Father, Amma Osei as Justice/Mother, Dane Biren as Franz, Tiffany Engen as Regina and Paul Schoeffler as Hertz, along with Mekhai Lee, Danielle Marie Gonzalez, Michael Mahany, Ashley E. Matthews, Leah Read, Justin Colombo, Autumn Guzzardi, Lindsay Janisse and Kevin Michael Raponey.
Rock of Ages returned off-Broadway on June 19, 2019 following its original 2008 New World Stages run and a Tony-nominated Broadway run, which ended in 2015. Originally announced as a limited return engagement, the production was recently shifted to an open run.
