The Search for Roxie Winner Emma Pittman Makes TV Appearance in Advance of Broadway Debut
Emma Pittman, the multi-talented rising star who was named triumphant in Broadway.com's Search for Roxie talent competition, is spreading the word about her upcoming bow in Chicago. Pittman made a recent visit to Fox 5 to talk about her experience participating in the series and her chance to play the legendary role of Roxie Hart. Pittman learned of her casting from the revival's Tony-winning choreographer and original Roxie, Ann Reinking, and the production's Tony-winning Velma, Bebe Neuwirth. Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show to Appear in Cinemas Across the U.S.
In advance of an upcoming springtime engagement at Radio City Music Hall, producers of the 25th anniversary staging of Riverdance have announced a national cinema screening of the Irish dance extravaganza. The show will be released in more than 300 cinemas across the U.S. on March 15; this will be the first time the internationally acclaimed family favorite has been shown on the big screen. The Radio City run of Riverdance will run from March 10-15.
Christopher Lloyd Goes Back to the Past in This Trailer for the Back to the Future Musical
Great Scott! We're merely three weeks away from the world premiere of Back to the Future, a new musical based on Robert Zemeckis' hit 1985 movie. The previously announced production, directed by Tony winner John Rando, will run from February 20 through May 17 at the Manchester Opera House in advance of a West End run. Ahead of the start of performances, the production has released a trailer featuring Olly Dobson, who will star in the Michael J. Fox role of Marty McFly, along with Tony winner Roger Bart as Doctor Emmett Brown, the role made famous on-screen by Christopher Lloyd. New York Theatre Workshop Announces Casting for Martyna Majok's Sanctuary City
Complete casting is here for the upcoming off-Broadway staging of Sanctuary City, a play by Pulitzer winner Martyna Majok. Rebecca Frecknall will direct the production, set to begin previews on March 4 and open on March 24 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The three-person cast will include Austin Smith (Hamilton), Jasai Chase-Owens (The Tempest) and Sharlene Cruz (Mac Beth). Sanctuary City follows a group of lovers and lifelong friends who are negotiating the promise of safety and the weight of responsibility, fighting to establish a place for themselves and each other in America.
Broadway's Adam Roberts Announces Solo Concert at Rockwood
Adam Roberts, a standout star currently appearing on the national tour of the Tony-nominated Miss Saigon revival, will go solo on the stage of Rockwood Music Hall next month. The new concert, scheduled for February 29 at 3:00pm, will feature Roberts debuting heartfelt, soulful original music, songs about life, love and vulnerability. In addition to his current turn on the Miss Saigon tour, Roberts' résumé includes Broadway performances in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and Pippin. This past fall, he released the debut single Glue.
