Casting is complete for the upcoming revival of the Chekhov classic The Seagull, arriving in London's West End this spring. Jamie Lloyd will direct the previously announced production, featuring a new adaptation by Anya Reiss, set to begin previews on June 10 and open on June 18 at the Playhouse Theatre. Emilia Clarke will make her West End debut as Nina.
Joining Clarke will be Danny Ashok as Medvedenko, Robert Glenister as Sorin, Tom Rhys Harries as Trigorin, Daniel Monks as Konstantin, Tamzin Outhwaite as Polina, Patrick Robinson as Dorn, Seun Shote as Shamrayev, Indira Varma as Arkadina and Sophie Wu as Masha.
The Seagull, set during a turning point in Russian history, involves young Konstantin, who struggles to define himself as a writer. When his mother, the famous actress Arkadina and her lover Trigorin arrive to spend the summer at her family's country home, their appearance wreaks havoc on the rest of the family.
The West End production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through September 5.
