A slew of stage favorites will come together next month to perform the songs of Ryan Scott Oliver at Feinstein's/54 Below. The concert, titled RSO/54, will take place on March 31 at 7:00pm. Principal performers set to sing out include Lindsay Mendez, Ashley Park, Kate Baldwin, Christy Altomare, Kerstin Anderson, Katie Rose Clarke, Ben Fankhauser, Drew Gehling, Jason Gotay, Troy Iwata, Jay Armstrong Johnson, John-Michael Lyles, Katie Thompson and Natalie Walker. The evening will also feature the talents of Ethan Carlson, Caitlin Doak, Ian Fairlee, Mary Claire Miskell, David Park, Bethany Perkins and Donté Wilder. Audience members can expect to hear tunes from the prolific list of Oliver's work, including Mrs. Sharp; Darling; 35mm: A Musical Exhibition; Jasper in Deadland; We Foxes; Rope; Otherbody, a brief musical allegory; Three Points of Contact, and world premieres from Oliver's latest work. Joshua Zecher-Ross will serve as the evening's musical director.
Randy Skinner to Direct & Choreograph Cheek to Cheek: Irving Berlin in Hollywood
Four-time Tony nominee Randy Skinner has signed on to direct a new tribute show to a music legend. Titled Cheek to Cheek: Irving Berlin in Hollywood, the off-Broadway show will play the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's beginning on April 17 ahead of an official opening night of April 23. Featuring a book by Barry Kleinbort, Cheek to Cheek: Irving Berlin in Hollywood is an all-singing, all-dancing celebration of the most famous songs that Irving Berlin composed for the silver screen. Skinner earned Tony nods for his choreography of Ain't Broadway Grand, 42nd Street, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and Dames at Sea. Cheek to Cheek will play a limited engagement through May 17. Casting will be announced at a later date.
Jason Robert Brown & Georgia Stitt to Be Honored by TADA! Youth Theater
Married music makers Jason Robert Brown and Georgia Stitt will be hat-tipped at the upcoming 35th annual gala of TADA! Youth Theater. Emmy-nominated Broadway alum Tituss Burgess will host the event, scheduled for March 2 at downtown venue Tribeca 360. For his work as a songwriter and orchestrator, Brown has earned Tony Awards for Parade and The Bridges of Madison County. Stitt's credits as a conductor include Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity; her composing work includes Snow Child and Samantha Spade, Ace Detective, the latter of which was commissioned by TADA.
Broadway Actor Josh Grisetti Ties the Knot
Broadway's Josh Grisetti was married to actress Mackenzie Perpich on February 2! Grisetti broke the news on Instagram. "I'm a lucky lucky man...to have this woman as my #wife," he wrote. Grisetti is a two-time Drama Desk nominee for his turns in It Shoulda Been You and Enter Laughing The Musical, the latter of which earned him a Theatre World Award. His stage credits also include Something Rotten!, After the Ball, Candida, Rent, Peter and the Starcatcher and Red Eye of Love. Lesley Joseph to Play Mother Superior on Sister Act U.K. & Ireland Tour
Lesley Joseph, the stage-and-screen actress most known for her turn as Dorien Green on the sitcom Birds of a Feather, has been cast as Mother Superior on the upcoming U.K. and Ireland tour of the 2011 Tony-nominated musical Sister Act. The previously announced tour will open on April 21 at Leicester Curve. Joseph will appear alongside Brenda Edwards as Deloris and Olivier winner Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther on the tour, which will later arrive at London's Eventim Apollo featuring Jennifer Saunders as Mother Superior and Whoopi Goldberg reprising her 1992 screen turn as Deloris.
