Stage stars Beverley Knight and Fra Fee have joined the company of the highly anticipated Cinderella movie musical remake. The previously announced film will arrive in cinemas on February 5, 2021.
Knight, known as the Queen of British Soul, has accrued a list of stage credits that includes The Bodyguard, Cats, Sylvia and an Olivier-nominated turn in Memphis. She is slated to portray Faye Treadwell, legendary manager of The Drifters, in the upcoming musical The Drifters Girl.
Fee made his Broadway debut in fall 2018 in the Tony-winning play The Ferryman. He recently appeared in a production of Translations with London's National Theatre. His other credits include As You Like It, Putting It Together and a screen turn as Courfeyrac in the 2012 Oscar-nominated Les Misérables film.
Also new to the Cinderella film cast are Nicholas Galitzine, Charlotte Spencer, Tallulah Greive, Luke Latchman and Mary Higgins. They join the previously announced two-time Grammy nominee Camila Cabello in the title role, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer as stepsisters, and Tony winners Idina Menzel and Billy Porter as the evil stepmother and the fairy godmother, respectively.
The new modern-day Cinderella will feature a script adapted by Emmy nominee Kay Cannon (Blockers), who will also direct. Cabello is expected to craft new music for the film.
