Full casting has been announced for the upcoming Broadway staging of four-time Tony nominee Martin McDonagh's Hangmen. The previously announced production, directed by Matthew Dunster, will begin previews on February 28 and officially open on March 19 at the Golden Theatre.
Newly announced cast members include Jason Crutchley (Sacred Elephant) as Inspector Fry/Doctor, Josh Goulding (Trainspotting) as Hennessy and Ryan Pope (A Very, Very Very Dark Matter) as Charlie/Guard.
They join the previously announced Dan Stevens as Mooney, Tracie Bennett as Alice, Mark Addy as Harry, John Hodgkinson as Pierrepoint, Ewen Bremner as Syd, Owen Campbell as Clegg, Gaby French as Shirley, Richard Hollis as Bill and John Horton as Arthur.
Hangmen takes place in England on the day when hanging has been abolished; in a small pub sits Harry (Addy), who is infamously known as the second-best hangman in England. Among the cub reporters and pub regulars dying to hear Harry's reaction to the news are his old assistant Syd (Bremner) and the peculiar Mooney (Stevens), who lurk with very different motives.
The Broadway production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through July 18.
