Tony-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has been tapped to play the lead role in the CBS comedy series pilot B Positive, according to Deadline. The series is created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre.
B Positive follows Drew, a "newly divorced dad faced with finding a kidney donor who is at the end of his rope when he runs into Gina (Ashford), a rough-around-the edges woman from his past who volunteers her own. Together they form an unlikely bond and begin a journey that will change both of their lives."
Ashford's upcoming work also includes portraying Paula Jones in Impeachment: American Horror Story. Ashford is a Tony winner for You Can't Take It With You whose credits also include a Tony-nommed turn in Kinky Boots and additional Broadway performances in Sunday in the Park with George, Sylvia, Hair, Wicked and Legally Blonde.
