A one-week extension has been announced for Dana H., a new play by Tony nominee Lucas Hnath currently making its New York premiere at the Vineyard Theatre. Originally announced to play a limited engagement through March 22, the production will now conclude its off-Broadway run on March 29.
Adapted from interviews conducted by Steve Cosson with Hnath's mother, the play tells the true story of Dana (played by Deirdre O'Connell), the former chaplain of a psych ward where she met a charismatic patient, an ex-convict searching for redemption. Dana was held captive in a series of Florida motels for five months.
Les Waters directs the production, which began previews on February 11 and will officially open on February 25.
