Powerhouse star Kate Fleetwood will take on the role of iconic villain Cruella de Vil in Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's upcoming musical adaptation of 101 Dalmatians. The previously announced tuner, featuring an original score by Tony- and Olivier-winning actor Douglas Hodge, will run from May 16 through June 21 at the London venue.
Fleetwood was nominated for Tony and Olivier Awards for her fiery turn as Lady Macbeth alongside Patrick Stewart in Macbeth. She has also been seen on stage in Absolute Hell, Ugly Lies the Bone, Bug, Life Is a Dream, London Road and High Society.
Based on Dodie Smith's 1956 novel and featuring a book by Zinnie Harris (By Many Wounds) and music/lyrics by Hodge, 101 Dalmatians will feature direction by Timothy Sheader, choreography by Liam Steel, music direction by Tarek Merchant and puppetry design by Toby Olié.
The creative team will also include music supervisor/orchestrator Sarah Travis, set/costume designer Katrina Lindsay, lighting designer Howard Hudson and sound designer Nick Lidster.
Further casting will be announced at a later date.
