Life partners Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne, currently sharing the stage in Medea at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, will co-star again next month in a one-night staging of Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge. The event, a benefit for The Acting Company, will take place at Hunter College's Kaye Playhouse on March 23 at 7:00pm. The New York performance will serve as a sample of a December 2020 production slated to play Australia's Sydney Theatre Company.
Set in 1956 Brooklyn, A View From the Bridge follows longshoreman Eddie Carbone (Cannavale), who agrees to shelter Marco and Rodolpho—the Italian cousins of his wife, Beatrice (Byrne)—who have arrived to work illegally. Trouble begins when Eddie's niece Catherine becomes attracted to the charming Rodolpho.
Cannavale is a two-time Tony nominee for Mauritius and The Motherf**ker With the Hat, seen on Broadway last season in The Lifespan of a Fact. He won Emmys for Boardwalk Empire and Will & Grace.
In addition to her current turn in Medea, Byrne made her Broadway debut in a revival of You Can't Take It With You. She earned a pair of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her small-screen turn in Damages.
Complete casting and creative team for both the Acting Company performance and the Sydney Theatre Company production will be announced soon.
