New York stage veteran Cassie Beck will join the national tour of the Tony-nominated play What the Constitution Means to Me this spring. Beck will take over the role of Heidi from Maria Dizzia beginning in June 2020 during the tour's Charlotte, NC stop.
Most recently seen on Broadway in The Rose Tattoo, Beck's Broadway credits also include The Humans, Picnic and The Norman Conquests. She has been seen off-Broadway in The Drunken City, Prayer for My Enemy, Smudge, Happy Hour, The Whale, By the Water and This Flat Earth.
Heidi Schreck's boundary-breaking play breathes new life into the Constitution, imagining how it will shape the next generation of American women. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In the play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that dictated their rights and citizenship.
Directed by Oliver Butler, What the Constitution Means to Me became a sensation off-Broadway last fall before transferring to Broadway, receiving two Tony nominations.
