Jackie Burns and Jonah Platt, a former Elphaba and Fiyero of the Broadway hit Wicked, will take the stage of New Jersey's George Street Playhouse this spring in the new musical A Walk on the Moon. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller will direct the world premiere production, set to run from April 21 through May 17.
Adapted from the award-winning 1999 film, A Walk on the Moon follows housewife Pearl Kantrowitz (Burns), who senses a change in the air and begins a fling with a free-spirited traveling salesman while spending the summer with her husband (Platt) and kids in the Catskills in 1969.
A Walk on the Moon features music and lyrics by Paul Scott Goodman (Bright Lights Big City) and a book/additional lyrics by the film's screenwriter, Pamela Gray. The George Street production will be choreographed by Joshua Prince (Beautiful) with musical supervision by Tony nominee Greg Anthony Rassen (Bandstand).
In addition to her turn in Wicked, Burns has been seen on Broadway in If/Then and Hair. Platt's additional credits include an off-Broadway appearance in Nassim and screen roles in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, The Office and Parks and Recreation.
