A Broadway-pedigree musical has booked a world premiere staging in Houston, Texas. Noir, a new tuner from Duncan Sheik, Kyle Jarrow and Darko Tresjnak, will make its debut appearance at the Alley Theatre next winter. The production will run from January 21 through February 21, 2021.
Featuring a book by Tony nominee Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants), music by two-time Tony winner Sheik (Spring Awakening) and lyrics by Jarrow and Sheik, Noir follows a heartbroken man who never leaves his apartment, finding his only solace in the music on the radio. Soon, a couple moves in next door and eavesdropping becomes his new entertainment and his new obsession.
The musical will be directed by Tony winner Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). The Alley Theatre production will be presented by special arrangement with Broadway producers Robert Cole, Mary Beth O'Connor and Carl Moellenberg.
Sheik and Jarrow are current collaborators on the new musical Whisper House, which is scheduled to appear off-Broadway next month.
Rounding out the 2020-2021 Alley Theatre season will be productions of Clue (July 24-September 6, 2020), A Christmas Carol—A Ghost Story (November 19-December 30, 2020), Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery (March 12-April 4, 2021) and Born with Teeth (April 2-May 2, 2021).
Casting and additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.
