John Mulaney fans know the comedian is obsessed with Broadway. From a lobstrer singing Les Miz to a Cats-singing commode in a bodega bathroom (not to mention his pitch-perfect Company mockumentary and musical Sack Lunch Bunch), Mulaney always manages to work in a musical reference or three. So, when the Oh, Hello on Broadway star hosted Saturday Night Live on Leap Day, he went all out with a musical mash-up set at LaGuardia Airport. Mulaney and the SNL cast poked fun at the poorly rated airport. To illustrate the dismal conditions, Kenan Thompson played a goose that took down Captain "Sully" Sullberg's plane singing a duet from The Phantom of the Opera with an airport sushi chef played by Cecily Strong. Look for numbers from West Side Story to Little Shop of Horrors. The pièce de résistance? A gravity-defying Jake Gyllenhaal as "guy who travels in pajamas," who has an unusual response to TSA pat-downs. And don't miss SNL musical guest David Byrne lead the ensemble in "Plane to Nowhere" with his American Utopia cohorts. It's a Wicked-ly funny piece. If this is an audition for Mulaney to host the Tony Awards, we're all in!
