Injury Keeps Norbert Leo Butz Out of Wicked

Wicked will have to do without its leading man for a little longer. While producers first hoped the actor, who last performed the show on November 23, would return to the musical this week, his back injury is keeping him away. "While there has been improvement, Norbert's doctor insists that he needs additional time for recovery," a production spokesperson told Broadway.com. "We hope to have him back in the show soon, but he will return only when his doctor agrees that he's ready."

Understudy Kristoffer Cusick, usually a member of the Wicked ensemble, has been going on as Fiyero and will continue to do so until Butz returns. He previously appeared on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever. His other theatrical credits include the first national tour of Rent.

Wicked continues to star Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Joel Grey, Carole Shelley, Michelle Federer, William Youmans and Christopher Fitzgerald.
