Tony Award-winning actor Brian Stokes Mitchell has been named the 12th President of The Actors' Fund of America. He succeeds Tom Dillon, who held the position for 15 years and has been designated President Emeritus.
"With over 25 years in the industry, Stokes has a strong appreciation for the challenges of being an entertainment professional," Actors' Fund Executive Director Joseph P. Benincasa said in a statement. "As we face the critical issues around health care and affordable housing in the entertainment industry, Stokes will bring the vision and leadership that will move The Actors' Fund forward as we head into our 125th anniversary year."
The president is known as the most important volunteer of The Actors' Fund of America. He represents The Actors' Fund to the entertainment community and chairs the Board of Trustees, which creates and oversees the policies of The Actors' Fund.
Founded in 1882, The Actors' Fund of America is the national human service organization helping all entertainment professionals in television, film, music, theatre, opera and dance.
