Broadway.com has learned that Gregory Jbara has been cast as Andre in the Broadway-bound musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He is the final lead to be named in a cast that already includes Norbert Leo Butz, Sara Gettelfinger, Joanna Gleason, John Lithgow and Sherie Rene Scott.
Jbara has appeared on Broadway in Serious Money, Born Yesterday, Damn Yankees, Victor/Victoria and Chicago. Other New York theatrical credits include off-Broadway mountings of Forever Plaid, Privates on Parade and Have I Got a Girl for You! and Wonderful Town at City Center Encores!. Recently, he's been seen on the West Coast in George Furth's Precious Sons receiving the BackStageWest Garland Award, First Lady Suite, Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood and Neil Simon's Felix and Oscar. Jbara has also been featured in the films Jeffrey, One Fine Day, In & Out, The Out-of-Towners, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The First $20 Million is Always the Hardest and the recent Home on the Range.
Directed by Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will have its world premiere run at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego from September 15 through October 24 with an out-of-town opening set for September 22. The show is expected to open on Broadway in the spring of 2005.
A production spokesperson could not confirm the casting of Jbara.
