Beautiful and Damned, the musical based on the lives of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, will play its final performance at London's Lyric Theatre at the end of its current booking period on August 14.
Beautiful and Damned is set in the 1920s and tells the tragic story of Zelda Helen Anker and F. Scott Fitzgerald Michael Praed. The glamorous and fashionable couple, successful young author and stylish young wife, with their high-spending, high-living lifestyle, became the envy of the world. Scott christened the period, "The Jazz Age," and Zelda was its high priestess. However, behind the dazzling and elegant facade, there lies a darker story. Beautiful and Damned features music and lyrics by Roger Cook and Les Reed and a book by Kit Hesketh Harvey.
After a Guilford tryout, Beautiful and Damned, directed by Craig Revel Horwood, opened in the West End on May 10.
