Morgan Fairchild is set to star in The Graduate on the road. The actress will begin playing Mrs. Robinson on October 29 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and play the part through the tour's Washington, DC engagement, which ends on February 27, 2005.
Fairchild launched her career in 1973 when she began a four-year stint on Search for Tomorrow. Among her other notable series credits are Dallas, Paper Dolls, Falcon Crest, Flamingo Road for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and The City. Her feature film work includes Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, The Red-Headed Stranger, Midnight Cop, Shattered Illusions, Campus Man, The Seduction, Gospa, Venus Rising, Teddy Bears' Picnic, Peril, Unshackled and Nice Guys Sleep Alone. Fairchild's theatrical credits include Crimes of the Heart, Geniuses, Good-bye Charlie, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the short-lived off-Broadway comedy High Infidelity in 2000. In recent years, Fairchild has been seen on QVC, selling her own line of dolls, jewelry and skin care line.
The Graduate, adapted by Terry Johnson, is based on the novel by Charles Webb, which was also the source for the classic 1967 film of the same name. Set in the 1960s, The Graduate tells the story of Benjamin Braddock, an innocent college grad who is seduced by an older woman, Mrs. Robinson, and then falls in love with her daughter, Elaine.
The Graduate hit the road in the U.S. in the fall of 2003. Lorraine Bracco, Jerry Hall, Linda Gray and Kelly McGillis have all appeared as Mrs. Robinson during the tour. A new, yet-to-be-announced Mrs. Robinson will appear after Fairchild.
