The upcoming Broadway revival of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross has found its home. The play will begin performances at the Royale Theatre in mid-April in preparation for a May 1 opening, according to a production spokesperson. This production of Glengarry, directed by Joe Mantello, will star Alan Alda, Liev Schreiber and Frederick Weller.
Glengarry Glen Ross centers on a competitive group of real estate salesmen who've gotten more than a little desperate during the reign of Reaganomics. The play won the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, had a successful run at Broadway's Golden Theatre from March 16, 1984 through February 17, 1985, and was made into an acclaimed 1992 film.
Before Glengarry lands at the Royale, a revival of another Pulitzer Prize winner, 'night, Mother, is scheduled to play there from October 22, 2004 to February 27, 2005. The original production of Glengarry Glen Ross also followed 'night, Mother--it opened at the John Golden Theatre in 1984 after the Marsha Norman play closed.
