R.C. Sherriff's Journey's End is switching West End houses for a second time. The production will end its run at the Playhouse Theatre on October 2 and move to the Duke of York's Theatre on October 5. The transfer leaves the upcoming revival of Whose Life Is It Anyway?, starring Kim Cattrall, on the move from its previously announced home of the Duke of York's to the larger Comedy Theatre, where it will begin previews on January 7.
Journey's End centers on Stanhope, a young captain promoted beyond his years, who is preparing his men for a daring raid across No Man's Land and an impending enemy attack. Journey's End is based on Sherriff's experience in the trenches. The revival opened at the Comedy Theatre to positive reviews on January 21. The show ended its run there on May 1 and began at the Playhouse Theatre on May 3.
Brian Clark's Whose Life is it Anyway? follows the talented sculptor Claire Harrison Cattrall, who is used to being in control of her life--until a serious road accident forces her to contemplate a future in which she will remain constantly dependent on those around her. Left with only the use of her sharp mind and indomitable spirit, Claire does not submit quietly to her fate. Despite the theater change, the show, which is scheduled to run for 16 weeks, is still slated to have its official West End bow on January 25.
