Broadway.com has learned that Craig Bierko is expected to star opposite Jason Biggs in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Daniel Goldfarb's Modern Orthodox.
Bierko earned a Theatre World Award and Tony nomination for his Broadway debut in The Music Man. His last New York stage credit was Thou Shalt Not, which ended its limited engagement on January 6, 2002. Bierko's film credits include The Long Kiss Goodnight, Johns, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star and the upcoming The Cinderella Man. Bierko was a series regular on Madman of the People and The Court.
In Modern Orthodox, a young New York couple is in search of wedded bliss and a way to get rid of the diamond dealer that has taken over their lives. The last reading of the play featured Biggs, Rachel Dratch, Dan Futterman and Sarah Jessica Parker, but only Biggs is expected to appear in the full-scale mounting.
Modern Orthodox, directed by James Lapine, is scheduled to begin performances at Dodger Stages on November 11 in preparation for a December 6 opening.
