Molly Ringwald is set to star alongside Craig Bierko and Jason Biggs in the upcoming off-Broadway production of Daniel Goldfarb's Modern Orthodox. Shiri Appleby is in talks for the fourth and final role, according to a representative of the actress.
Ringwald, best known for her acclaimed teen film roles Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, has spent a good amount of time on stage in the last few years. She made her off-Broadway debut in 1986 in Horton Foote's Lily Dale, for which she earned a Theatre World Award. She also appeared off-Broadway in How I Learned to Drive and tick, tick… BOOM!. She has starred on the Great White Way in Cabaret and Enchanted April and appeared on the London stage earlier this year in When Harry Met Sally.
Appleby is best known for starring as Elizabeth 'Liz' Parker Evans in the cult favorite television series Roswell. Her film credits include I Love You to Death, The Other Sister, The Thirteenth Floor, Swimfan and The Battle of Shaker Heights.
In Modern Orthodox, a young New York couple Bierko and Ringwald is in search of wedded bliss and a way to get rid of the diamond dealer Biggs that has taken over their lives. Modern Orthodox, directed by James Lapine, is scheduled to begin performances at Dodger Stages on November 11 in preparation for a December 6 opening.
