Lone Star Love is on the move. Instead of playing at Amas' 39th Street space as previously announced, the tuner will actually be housed at the John Houseman Theater. Performances begin there on November 21 with an official opening set for December 8.
Lone Star Love, a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, relocates Shakespeare's comedy to Texas. In the musical, Falstaff is still up to his shenanigans, but this time they happen on the Texas prairie. Jack Herrick of the string band The Red Clay Ramblers wrote the score for the show. Michael Bogdanov, Bland Simpson and Tommy Thompson also contributed to the music.
Starring Jay O. Sanders as Falstaff, the principle cast of the musical will include Stacia Fernandez, Beth Leavel, Gary Sandy, Dan Sharkey, Clarke Thorell and the Red Clay Rambers Clay Buckner, Chris Frank and Herrick. Also featured will be Kevin Bernard, Shane Braddock, Peter Connelly, Harriett Foy, Stacey Harris, Drew McVety, Nick Sullivan, Julie Tolivar, Brandon Williams and Dana Zihlman.
Lone Star Love, directed by Michael Bogdanov and choreographed by Randy Skinner, is scheduled to run off-Broadway through January 9.
