Tony winner Frank Wood will join previously announced stars Randy Quaid, Tim Roth and J. Smith-Cameron in the world premiere of Sam Shepard's The God of Hell.
Wood received a 1999 Best Featured Actor Tony Award for his performances in Side Man. His other New York theatrical credits include Tomorrowland, The Interview, Three Sisters, The Wax and Hollywood Arms on Broadway. He starred in the Hartford Stage world premiere of Edward Albee's Peter and Jerry and was expected to reprise his role off-Broadway this fall, but the Gotham mounting of the show was canceled. Wood replaces Jamey Sheridan, who was forced to withdraw from the production because of his shooting schedule for the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Set on a dairy farm in rural Wisconsin, The God of Hell follows the travails of a quiet Midwestern couple Cameron and Quaid whose lives--and cattle--are sorely abused after the arrival of a nefarious government official Roth.
The God of Hell, directed by Lou Jacob, begins performances at Actors Studio Drama School Theatre at Westbeth on October 29 and opens there on November 16. Its limited engagement is scheduled to run through November 28.
