Pieces of Ass, a show composed of a series of monologues about being female, is coming to Dodger Stages. It will open at the 360-seat Stage 2 in the new off-Broadway complex on December 8.
"I always say: 'It's an empowering show for women and an enlightening show for men,'" Brian Howie, who conceived and directed the piece, told Broadway.com. "And I'm so happy to be at Dodger Stages. It's an awesome space."
The Pieces of Ass monologues all deal with themes uniquely common to the physically blessed female--from the perks and privileges to the problems and pressures. Performances often feature a special guest star, which in the past have included Survivor's Jenna Morasca and E! Entertainment Television's Brooke Burke.
The show premiered at New York's Theatre 80 in the summer of 2003 and has since been seen in the city at the China Club. It has also played Los Angeles and Las Vegas. On November 7, Pieces of Ass will return to Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for an encore performance.
In his review of the show's Los Angeles engagement, Variety's Julio Martinez wrote: "Despite the obvious booty exploitation these ladies aren't dressed in gunny sacks, the revelations, if not intellectually engrossing, prove to be nearly as aurally stimulating as they are visually enticing."
