2004 Joseph Jefferson Awards Announced

Winners of the annual Joseph Jefferson Awards, which honors Equity and non-resident productions in Chicago, were announced November 1 at a gala event at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, Illinois. Trying, currently running off-Broadway, received two Jeff Awards, one for New Work and one for star Fritz Weaver. Rose Rage, Henry VI Parts 1, 2 and 3, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater production which recently ran off-Broadway, netted four awards, including Production of a Play. Also of interest to New York theatergoers, The Light in the Piazza, which will be seen on Broadway later this season, won three awards: Production of a Musical, Actress in a Principal Role in a Musical for Victoria Clark and Lighting Design for Chistopher Akerlind.
