Neil Patrick Harris, Lawrence Pressman, Josh Radnor, Ron Rifkin and Patricia Wettig will star in the world premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's The Paris Letter at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, California. The show, directed by Michael Morris, begins previews on December 5.
The Paris Letter centers on Sandy Sonenberg Rifkin, a man who by pure willpower, and the guidance of a psychiatrist who specializes in gay conversion, has become a successful Wall Street powerhouse with a devoted wife. But the long suppression of his true self eventually leads to a risky involvement with a young entrepreneur and to personal and financial ruin.
Harris, known as a child for playing the title role in Doogie Howser, M.D., has appeared on Broadway in Cabaret, Proof and Assassins. Pressman's Broadway credits include Never Live Over a Pretzel Factory, The Man in the Glass Booth and Play It Again, Sam. Radnor took over for Jason Biggs as Benjamin in The Graduate. Rifkin, who can be seen on the television series Alias and is a longtime Baitz favorite, has been attached to The Paris Letter since its inception. Wettig, who played Rifkin's love interest on Alias last season, is best known for her work in the television series Thirtysomething.
The Paris Letter is scheduled to officially open in California on December 12 and continue through January 2. It will then be seen in May at the Roundabout Theatre Company's off-Broadway space, the Laura Pels Theatre. That production, directed by Doug Hughes, will begin previews on May 13 and is scheduled to run through August 7.
