Twelve Angry Men Extends to 1/9; Fool for Love Delays Four Days

The Roundabout Theatre Company has announced another extension for its production of Reginald Rose's Twelve Angry Men. The show, directed by Scott Ellis, will now run at the American Airlines Theatre an additional week through January 9.

In Twelve Angry Men, a young delinquent awaits sentencing for the manslaughter of his aggressive father. One juror feels that there is a "reasonable doubt"--to the frustration of his eleven colleagues--thus preventing a quick verdict. During the heated deliberations, the hidden preconceptions and assumptions of the jurors are revealed. When faced with playing the hangman, each juror is forced to face himself.

The production, directed by Scott Ellis, features Tom Aldredge, Mark Blum, Philip Bosco, Larry Bryggman, Robert Clohessy, Peter Friedman, Boyd Gaines, Kevin Geer, Michael Mastro, Matte Osian, John Pankow, James Rebhorn and Adam Trese.

Twelve Angry Men opened to mostly positive reviews at the American Airlines Theater on October 28. In his Broadway.com Review of the show, William Stevenson wrote: "The first Broadway production of Twelve Angry Men isn't as star-studded as some recent Roundabout Theatre productions. And that, as Martha Stewart would say, is a good thing. Here the company has cast theater vets such as Philip Bosco, Tom Aldredge, Larry Bryggman and Boyd Gaines. The result is a gripping production, with fine acting all around and taut direction by Scott Ellis."

Due to this extension, the Roundabout's next production in the American Airlines, Sam Shepard's Fool for Love, has pushed back its performance start date by four days. The show, directed by Ed Harris, is now scheduled to begin previews on January 19 in preparation for its February 10 opening.
