Zeljko Ivanek and Michael Stuhlbarg are expected to appear in the Broadway mounting of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman, according to Variety. As we previously reported, Billy Crudup and Jeff Goldblum are also in talks to appear in the play.
Ivanek earned Tony nominations for his work in Two Shakespearean Actors and Brighton Beach Memoirs. His other Broadway credits include The Glass Menagerie, Loot and The Survivor. His off-Broadway credits include The Cherry Orchard, A Map of the World, Cloud 9 and Blue/Orange. His film credits include Dogville, Unfaithful, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, Dancer in the Dark, A Civil Action, Donnie Brasco, Courage Under Fire, White Squall, School Ties and Mass Appeal.
Stuhlbarg has appeared on Broadway in The Invention of Love, Cabaret, Taking Sides, Saint Joan, Timon of Athens and The Government Inspector. His off-Broadway credits include The Persians, Twelfth Night, The Winter's Tale, Richard II, A Dybbuk, Cymbeline, Old Wicked Songs and The Mysteries.
The Pillowman centers on a writer in a totalitarian state who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of child-murders that are happening in his town.
Directed by John Crowley, The Pillowman played earlier this year at London's National Theatre and won the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play.
