Chase recently appeared in the world premiere of the musical adaptation of A Little Princess. Chase first became known in the theater community for his portrayal of Chris in Miss Saigon. He starred in the musical on the Great White Way for two years, appeared in the Manila production and then returned to perform with the final Broadway cast. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Rent, The Full Monty and Aida. His regional theater credits include Trask & Fenn, Son of Fire, Assassins, Electra and Mame.
Ripley's Broadway credits include The Who's Tommy, Sunset Boulevard, King David, Side Show which earned her a joint 1998 Tony Award nomination with co-star Emily Skinner, Les Miserables, James Joyce's The Dead and The Rocky Horror Show. Notable other appearances include Li'l Abner at Encores!, the Reprise! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in Los Angeles, Shakespeare in Hollywood at Arena Stage and Five Flights off-Broadway.
In The Baker's Wife, a new baker arrives in a rural French village just in time to ease the pains of the contentious villagers, who have been without bread for weeks. All is well and everyone's spirits are rising until the baker is driven to distraction and the villagers suffer the fate of breadless ness once again. Lenny Wolpe will star as the baker with Ripley playing his wife and Chase playing the man who tries to steal her heart.
This mounting will be directed by Gordon Greenberg, who helmed a Goodspeed Musicals production of the tuner. Returning from the Goodspeed production are Wolpe and Gay Marshall. The Baker's Wife is scheduled to run at Paper Mill April 13 through May 22.
