"The timing could not have been more serendipitous," Clapp said in a statement. "I was planning to get back to the theatre after NYPD Blue ended, and this was a role on my wish list. I'm thrilled to do it in such grand company."
Clapp is best known for playing Detective Greg Medavoy on ABC's long-running NYPD Blue. He was first nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the show in 1994 and went on to win a 1998 Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for his work. His feature film credits include Running, Eight Men Out, Gross Anatomy, The Rage: Carrie 2, Rules of Engagement, Sunshine State and Moonlight Mile.
Clapp first appeared in an Equity theater production at the age of 12. After graduating from college, he became part of a children's touring theater based in Bennington, Vermont and toured New England for three seasons. He also performed in summer stock in North Conway. He then took up residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he appeared for two seasons at the Neptune Theatre. Clapp later became a member of the National Arts Center Theatre Company in Ottawa for five seasons and followed that with regional theater in Philadelphia and Buffalo. Last year, he appeared in the Los Angeles production of Blackout.
Glengarry Glen Ross, directed by Joe Mantello, is scheduled to begin performances at the Royale Theatre on April 8 in preparation for a May 1 opening.
