Broadway.com has learned that Tony winner Jane Krakowski has won the role of Miss Adelaide in the upcoming Donmar Warehouse production of Guys and Dolls starring Ewan McGregor.
Krakowski won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Carla in the Broadway revival of Nine. She previously received Tony and Drama Desk nominations for her performance in Grand Hotel. Krakowski also appeared on Broadway in Company, Once Upon a Mattress, Face Value, Tartuffe: Born Again and Starlight Express. In Los Angeles, the actress starred in the Reprise! mounting of Mack & Mabel and at the Mark Taper Forum in Henceforward, winning L.A. Drama Critics and Drama-Logue awards. She created the role of Elaine Vassal in Fox television's Ally McBeal, receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Krakowski recently played the Ghost of Christmas Past in the NBC small screen adaptation of the musical A Christmas Carol. She was set to star in the Broadway transfer of Hitchcock Blonde this spring, but the planned mounting has been canceled. Guys and Dolls will mark the actress' West End stage debut.
Guys and Dolls centers on zoot-suited gamblers, dashing con men and the beautiful show girls who love 'em. McGregor is playing the male lead, who believes he can win any bet, but gets more than he bargained for when he does. The musical features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. This mounting of the musical will be directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford.
The Donmar Warehouse production of Guys and Dolls will begin previews at London's Piccadilly Theatre on May 19.
