Soap Star Paul Anthony Stewart Joins Cast of Fiddler February 15

Paul Anthony Stewart of Guiding Light is joining the cast of Fiddler on the Roof. According to a production spokesperson, the Emmy nominated soap star will replace original cast member Robert Petkoff in the role of revolutionary Perchik starting February 15.

Although best known for playing Danny Santos on the CBS soap, receiving a 2003 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work, Stewart is no stranger to the Broadway stage. During the 1993-1994 season, he made his debut in the short-lived Cyrano - The Musical. Prior to joining the cast of Guiding Light in 1998, he appeared on the soap opera Loving and in the films Somewhere in the City and Woody Allen's Shadows and Fog. Other theater credits include Bent, Children of Eden, Cloud Nine, Cymbeline, Hair and The Most Happy Fella.

Petkoff will play his final performance in Fiddler on the Roof this Sunday, February 13. The revival's cast also features Harvey Fierstein, Andrea Martin, Nancy Opel, Sally Murphy, Laura Shoop, Tricia Paoluccio, Alison Walla, Betsy Hogg, John Cariani and Patrick Heusinger.
