Sarah Jones' Bridge & Tunnel Delays B'way Bow Until Fall

Sarah Jones' Bridge & Tunnel, which played off-Broadway to great acclaim, will not hit Broadway this spring after all. The show, which was readying for an announced April bow at the Circle in the Square, has now been pushed until the fall. A production spokesperson said the reason for the delay was that the right house could not be booked at this time.

In Bridge & Tunnel, 14 characters all portrayed by Jones travel the roads of assimilation to tell the story of American change in an ever-changing America. Mohammed, a charismatic Pakistani accountant, Mrs. Ling, the Chinese mother adjusting to her daughter's alternative lifestyle and Nereida, a young Latina with a quick wit and an even faster tongue, are just a few of Jones' gallery of characters.

Bridge & Tunnel, which opened at 45 Bleecker on February 12, 2004 and ran there through August 15, received rave reviews during that off-Broadway run. Jones also earned an Obie Award for her performance.

Jones and director Tony Taccone are currently at Berkeley Repertory Theatre where Taccone is the artistic director for a public workshop of the show, which will end on February 20.
