Jason Butler Harner has replaced previously announced cast member Lee Pace in The Paris Letter, which is currently in rehearsals for a May 13 start date at the Laura Pels Theatre. Pace left the production because of "a recently confirmed film project," according to a production statement.
Harner appeared in the Roundabout's 2000 production of Juno and the Paycock. His other off-Broadway credits include An Experiment with an Air Pump, Henry VIII, Macbeth, Berlin, Speech and Hedda Gabler. His other theatrical credits include mountings of The Invention of Love, Long Day's Journey Into Night, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Transit of Venus, Galileo and Picnic.
In The Paris Letter, Wall Street powerhouse Sandy Sonenberg played by Ron Rifkin finds his personal and professional life threatened by the unraveling secrets of his past. A tragic game of financial and moral betrayal is played out over four decades, from 1962 to the present, and between two friends at the cost of family, friendship, love and marriage.
Directed by Doug Hughes, the cast includes Rifkin, John Glover, Daniel Eric Gold and Michele Pawk. The show is scheduled to officially open on June 12.
