Broadway.com has learned that Elizabeth Berkley is expected to step into the off-Broadway revival of David Rabe's Hurlyburly. She will replace Catherine Kellner who left the production suddenly last week, in the role of Bonnie.
Berkley made her New York stage debut in the Broadway revival of Sly Fox last season. She first gained national attention as Jessie Spano on TV's Saved by the Bell. Her film credits include Showgirls, The First Wives Club, The Real Blonde, Any Given Sunday and Roger Dodger. Berkley also co-starred with Eddie Izzard in the show Lenny at the Queen's Theatre in the West End in 1999.
Understudy Diana Ruppe has been going on in the role of Bonnie and will continue to do so until Berkley is ready. Hurlyburly, currently running at 37 Arts, and also stars Ethan Hawke, Josh Hamilton, Parker Posey, Bobby Cannavale, Wallace Shawn and Halley Wegryn Gross.
A production spokesperson could not confirm the casting of Berkley.
