"I really love the script," Maynard told Broadway.com about his new endeavor. "It's very dramatic, but I know I can do it. If I just went and played another gay kid, I'd be a one-trick pony for the rest of my life. This is someone who is straight and completely different. I have more than just a gay bag of tricks."
Maynard earned much acclaim and Drama Desk and Lortel Award nominations for his performance in Altar Boyz, a show he will depart in July. His other theatrical credits include Mamma Mia! on Broadway, the Encores! mounting of Bye Bye Birdie, the tour of On the Record and the pre-Broadway mounting of Good Vibrations at Vassar College. Maynard can also be seen in the Todd Solondz film Palindromes.
Larsen is currently appearing on Broadway in All Shook Up. She has performed with the Broadway and touring companies of Rent and created the role of Roberta in the off-Broadway musical Zanna, Don't!.
Miracle Brothers, directed by Tina Landau, is expected to begin performances in August.
