Nathan Lane will now headline Terrence McNally's Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams at Primary Stages. He is replacing Peter Frechette, who withdrew from the production because of a scheduling conflict. Lane will appear in the play alongside Marian Seldes, Michael Countryman, Patricia Kalember, Darren Pettie, R.E. Rodgers and Miriam Shor.
Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams centers on Lou Nuncle Lane and Jessie Nuncle Kalember, who run a children's theater in a mall in upstate New York. When the possibility of taking over an abandoned vaudeville palace arises, the Nuncles are forced to examine how far their love of theater will take them.
Lane, a two-time Tony winner for his work in musicals, starred in McNally's Love! Valour! Compassion! on Broadway and the scribe's Lips Together, Teeth Apart, The Lisbon Traviata and Bad Habits off-Broadway. Right after Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams, he will be seen with Frechette in The Odd Couple, which begins performances in October at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
