Lincoln Center Theater will present a revival of Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Seascape at Broadway's Booth Theatre this fall. George Grizzard, Elizabeth Marvel, Frances Sternhagen and Frederick Weller are set to star in the production, which will be directed by Mark Lamos.
In Seascape, a middle-aged human couple is spending the day contemplating the past and the future on a deserted stretch of beach. Soon the pair encounters two lizard-like sea creatures that are at a very advanced stage of evolution. Through dialogue, the humans answer the creatures' most urgent questions.
Seascape has had one previous Broadway mounting. It ran from January 26, 1975 through March 22, 1975 at the Shubert Theatre. The piece won the 1975 Pulitzer Prize but lost the Best Play Tony Award to Peter Shaffer's Equus.
