The 2004 Tony Awards Telecast Wins Emmy Award

The CBS broadcast of the 2004 Tony Awards won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special. Winners were announced at a September 11 ceremony in Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

The 58th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Hugh Jackman, was executive produced by Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss. The ceremony took place at Radio City Music Hall on June 6, 2004 and was broadcast live on CBS.

In order to win the Emmy, the Tony Awards beat out fellow nominees The 77th Annual Academy Awards, Dave Chappelle: For What It's Worth, Everybody Loves Raymond-The Last Laugh and The Games Of The XXVIII Olympiad--Opening Ceremony.
