Marin Mazzie Reunites with Brian Stokes Mitchell for Kismet at Encores!

Marin Mazzie will reunite with frequent leading man Brian Stokes Mitchell once again--this time in the Encores! staging of Kismet.

Mazzie and Mitchell starred together on Broadway in Ragtime, Kiss Me, Kate and Man of La Mancha. Mazzie received Tony nominations for two of those collaborations Ragtime, Kiss Me, Kate and also received a Tony nomination for her work in Passion. In addition to her Tony-nominated turns, Mazzie has also appeared on Broadway in Big River and Into the Woods. Her off-Broadway credits include The Trojan Women: A Love Story, The World Goes 'Round and the Encores! mounting of Out of This World.

Kismet, based on a play by Edward Knoblock, features music by Alexander Borodin, musical adaptation and lyrics by Robert Wright and George Forrest and a book by Charles Lederer and Luther Davis. The story follows an inventive poet-scoundrel Mitchell, his beautiful daughter, a wicked Wazir and his man-hungry wife Mazzie.

Kismet is scheduled to run at City Center from February 9 through February 12. While Variety reported that Kathleen Marshall would direct the staging, Lonny Price will in fact helm the mounting.
