Hugh Jackman picked up a 2005 Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for his work as host of the 2004 Tony Awards ceremony. The trophy was the second high-profile win for the Tonys, which also won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music of Comedy Special last week.
In the category, Jackman beat out talk show hosts Jon Stewart The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Jay Leno The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as well as comedy show special performances by Tracey Ullman Tracey Ullman Live & Exposed and Whoopi Goldberg, who was nominated for Whoopi Back to Broadway--the 20th Anniversary, the HBO airing of her recent Broadway engagement.
