Neufeld was for many years a Broadway general manager and producer on shows such as Annie, Evita, Cats, Crazy for You and Sweeney Todd. For the last ten years, he has worked at Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Among other things, Neufeld organizes their annual Flea Market and Grand Auction, which took place yesterday.
TCG is the national service organization for American not-for-profit professional theatre. TCG, led by executive director Ben Cameron, currently represents 442 theatres in 47 states and the District of Columbia, and 17,000 individual members. Their mission is to nurture, strengthen and promote theatre nationwide. The country's leading independent press specializing in dramatic literature, TCG's publications include American Theatre magazine and TCG Books. Additionally, TCG supports theatres and artists by awarding $3 million in grants annually to theatres and artists. It also engages in federal advocacy, international exchange, management, training and research.
The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre, which were established in 1990, are awarded annually by the Tony Administration Committee to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theater but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories.
The 2005 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will be awarded on October 25 at Tavern on the Green.
